Quality of Service from Voicenet@HCL

Internet users in India have often complained about very poor surfing speeds. As a result people have to wait for minutes before the web page they are trying to reach opens.
Voice is described as a Real Time Application, which means that the data
which carries Voice has to reach the receiver in real time for it to be
useful. In case there is a delay in the voice data reaching the sender, the
quality suffers.
While making an interent telephony call, poor internet bandwidths can cause
problems in Voice quality. Commonly faced problems are:
a) Voice breaking during the call
b) Call not getting through.
c) Echo
d) Jitter (voice fluctuating)
e) Warbling.
The above problems are likely to be faced when you try making a call on the
public internet. This is because there is no control on the data that flows
on the internet. Data belonging to people who are surfing also congests
the network, thus causing Voice packets to get delayed. This in turn results in words getting lost/eaten up.
HCL Infinet introduces VoiceNet.
Voice Net is a Managed Network which provides good quality voice by controlling the bandwidth that is available for the voice call. The network is managed by doing the following:
a) Providing a different access to the network - different from the regular
internet. When you dial into the VoiceNet, you wont be allowed to surf. This
keeps the VoiceNet clean and dedicated for Voice Traffic only.
b) Bandwidth is allocated within the country as well as for carrying the
Voice call upto the Voice servers situated abroad. Thus the chances of voice
quality suffering due to inadequate bandwidth are reduced.
